AJ120 #=32: Stanton Williams

  • Comment

58 employed architects, 24% female architects, =48th position in 2014

Stanton Williams had the honour of seeing its Cambridge laboratory voted as the best-ever Stirling Prize-winning building by AJ readers last year. But its sparkling design reputation does not mean the Islington-based firm has been neglecting its business activities. ‘Steady growth’ has seen last year’s AJ100 Fastest Growing Practice move up the rankings again, to 32 from 48. The firm says it is careful not to allow growth to compromise its core values and design integrity and also took steps in 2014 to improve its management team, with two associates promoted to associate director role. Major current projects include the world’s first research centre for children’s diseases at Great Ormond Street Hospital and a significant redevelopment of the Royal Opera House.
