62 employed architects, 26% female architects, 36th position in 2014
HOK has stepped forward six places following a landmark year which saw the global practice snap up North American sports specialist 360 Architecture. The move added 200 staff and two new US offices – in Kansas City, Missouri and Columbus, Ohio – to the firm and also led to the creation of a new sports, recreation and entertainment design team in the London studio, where Daniel Hajjar has become the new managing principal. Key completions during 2014 included a 3,130m² office building at 33 Davies Street in Mayfair, London, and a project to double capacity at Kempegowda Internationa Airport in Bangalore. Looking ahead, HOK will be placing the finishing touches on London’s £650 million Francis Crick Institute, which is planned to open in early 2016.
