74 employed architects, 20% female architects, =20th position in 2014

The 130-strong practice – active in the workplace, residential, hotel and masterplanning sectors – cites ‘fierce competition for the best staff’ as the biggest challenge in the year ahead. Total architectural fee income for 2014 was up 28 per cent year on year from £9.05 million to £11.6 million. Its client list ranges from Aerium and Berkeley Homes through to Starwood Capital and TFL, while 2014 saw the practice win a key competition to regenerate Louis de Soissons’ iconic Shredded  Wheat factory in Welwyn Garden City. Managing director Chris Castle says: ‘Residential and hotel work remains strong but significantly for us the recovery of the central London office market is allowing us to build upon our longstanding expertise in workplace design.’
