AJ120 #120: Clague Architects

  • Comment

20 employed architects, 15% female architects, =100th position in 2014

Home Counties-based Clague, with offices in Kent and Hertfordshire as well as London, specialises in housing, education and commercial work. It has also been designing a series of sports facilities for specialist sports provider Ball Hall, with the latest, at a girls’ school in Abingdon, Oxfordshire, recently going in for planning. It has also won approval for a sports academy in Perth for the University of the Highlands and Islands. Last year saw the 80-year-old practice add to its numerous prize-winning projects with a Kent Design Development Award for its Cyclopark, a linear park near Gravesend created for various outdoor activities. Clague’s biggest challenge this year will be succession planning, with one long-standing partner retiring and another leaving in 2016.
