22 employed architects, 32% female architects, =94th position in 2014

The Winchester-based practice ended 2014 proud to have maintained profitability during the downturn and is now seeing greater diversity and modest growth. While it aims to develop a greater range of project types, the practice has made its mark in the education sector – from designing student accommodation for Southampton University to its school work for Hertfordshire County Council – on a range of school projects from extensions to new-build, including two new free schools, developing a standardised approach to construction to enable efficiencies. Beyond education, its Monksbrook Estate housing in Eastleigh replaces outmoded stock with modern homes built to a higher density, while last year senior architect Paul Phasey became a certified Passivhaus designer.
