RIBA president Marco Goldschmied was awarded the American Institute of Architects' prestigious Presidential Medal on 13 March at the riba. Ronald L. Skaggs, president of the aia, said that Goldschmied's efforts 'to enhance the understanding and interaction of architects world-wide deserved to be recognised and celebrated'. The Presidential Medal is bestowed in acknowledgement of a history of mutually beneficial co-operation and communication between the aia and the leader of a foreign professional society. Goldschmied also received an honorary membership of the aia.
