  • Comment

Aedas off-shoot AHR is one three practices competing to design two new faculty buildings for the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT)

The UK studio – which split from Aedas in July – is up against contractor-led bids featuring IBI Group and New Jersey outfit RDK Architects in the race for the high profile job.

  • BAM with RDK Architects
  • Brookfield with Nightingales IBI Architects

The £120 million project will deliver two new DIT buildings on the former site of St. Brendan’s Hospital in Grangegorman, Dublin.

The 34,000m² ‘Central Quad’ building will be home to DIT’s College of Sciences and Health, College of Engineering and Built Environment and the College of Arts and Tourism

The 16,000m² East Quad building will meanwhile host the College of Creative and Cultural Industries.

Both buildings are part of a competition-winning masterplan (pictured) by US outfit Moore Ruble Yudell and Irish practice Duffy Mitchell O’Donoghue for the 29 hectare site.

Sheppard Robson is advising the client, Ireland’s National Development Finance Agency on the project.

The final tenders are due in November and the preferred bidder is expected to be appointed next year.
