Ad helps brush issues of equality under the rug

On behalf of the Women in Architecture group we write in objection to the sexist advertisement for the Carpet Foundtion which has appeared again in aj, despite the fact that you have published letters objecting to it (aj 27.4.00).

We are trying to encourage more women into architecture and this type of advertisement from a leading magazine sends out the wrong message which undoes much of our hard work. Why does the AJ, with at least 50 per cent female editorial staff, support this kind of exploitation?

I believe that this type of advertisement promotes a negative reaction and does little to win over women specifiers of whom there are many. Personally, I binned it and would encourage others to follow.
