A London-based small practice has set up the UK's first premium rate phone service offering the public architectural advice.
11.04 Architects, founded by RIBA council member Chris Roche, will dispense advice at £1.50 a minute. Roche said the idea was triggered by the amount of time practices spend answering questions for free from members of the public.
He said: 'An inquiry into, say, the source of a supplier of slate floor tiles may take 10 minutes.
This will cost £15 but could save the caller hundreds of pounds.
'We see ourselves as being on the sexy end of the architecture spectrum and it seems apt that we should charge people for the pleasure of listening to us wax lyrical, ' Roche added. The service is on 090 6666 1104.
