Interactive guide to green materials launched

  • Comment

Stephen George & Partners has published an online, interactive ‘green’ guide called Building Materials and the Environment

The document has been penned by Joanne Denison and Chris Halligan and is a cumulation of research they undertook for a project currently on site - the Sustainable Construction Academy in Dartford.

The client wanted a building which would serve as an educational tool demonstrating the use of sustainable building materials.

The project started as an internal resource and was going to be released as a book before the pair decided to launch the material as an interactive tool which could be continually updated.

‘There is much more to it than just the materials,’ said Dennison.  ’As important as the material itself is where it’s sourced and how it is used.  It’s very difficult to make a decision unless you know what it’s made up of and where it comes from.’

Read the AJ sustainability editor Hattie Hartman’s in-depth blog about the guide here.

The document can be downloaded here. Halligan and Dennison are keen for feedback, so download the guide and comment.
