Newcastle’s architecture centre, Northern Architecture has launched a design competition to redevelop a 2.25 hectare plot in Bedlington town centre. Backed by Northumberland County Council’s development company – ‘Arch’ – the project will regenerate a Tesco superstore site abandoned by the retail giant in January. Tainan City Government has announced an open international contest for a 30-hectare baseball stadium and training complex. Located in the city’s coastal Annan District, the project will deliver a new 25,000-capacity ‘international standard’ stadium with administrative and broadcasting facilities. Frankfurt am Main has opened a design competition to renew a disused pedestrian bridge. The competition seeks proposals for the ‘authentic restoration and rehabilitation of three historic southern spans’ and a replacement for a fourth span which was rebuilt in the 1950s.
