AHMM’s Lord’s redevelopment in crucial MCC vote

  • Comment

The Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) will this afternoon decide whether to pursue plans by Allford Hall Monaghan Morris (AHMM) for the redevelopment of Lord’s Cricket Ground

The club’s 18-member committee will vote on four proposals for the ground’s future including an option to abandon redevelopment altogether.

AHMM – working for developer Almacantar – has proposed four residential blocks, a colonnade and new indoor academy which will allow the club to expand its capacity from 28,000 to 33,000, reported The Times.

The two other options have yet to be disclosed however Herzog & de Meuron’s original £400 million masterplan for the site which featured five residential buildings was abandoned earlier this year when the MCC’s development committee disbanded.

The studio’s plans included the rebuilding of five stands to allow the club’s capacity to reach 40,000 spectators.

A verdict is expected later this evening.
