HOK has submitted plans for a 2,800m2 residential development above a Crossrail access shaft in Holborn
The eight-storey development housing 22 flats will sit above a single storey structure providing ventilation and access to the below ground Crossrail tunnels.
A mix of one, two and three-bedroom flats will make up the Fisher Street scheme in Camden.
The scheme between the conservation areas of Bloomsbury and Kingsway borders a Grade II-listed building on Southampton Row.
Construction on the Fisher Street shaft has already begun, and is set to complete in 2015.
Ian Lindsay, Crossrail’s land and property director said: ‘The Fisher Street plans offer a striking piece of architecture for a unique opportunity to deliver new residential space in a prime central London location. This is one of a number of commercial opportunities in the pipeline and we are continuing to seek new development partners to help us deliver a range of future schemes.’
