Highpoint Flats by Tecton Group

  • Comment

[OPEN HOUSE] Tecton’s Grade I listed seven-storey modernist appartment block is one of more than 50 projects taking part in Open House London featured in the Library

Initially commissioned by Sigmund Gestetner as social housing for the workers of his office equipment firm the bright white seven-storey double-cruciform block, comprising sixty-four apartments, sits on a high point in north London.

The block was designed to ensure that the living rooms in each apartment received at least some sunlight during the day, with the bedrooms placed in more secluded areas.

Lift services and staircases are grouped at the intersections, leading down to a wide foyer and communal tearoom on the ground floor.
