Hellman files #173

  • Comment

A trawl through Hellman’s archives, in which we uncover gems that are as relevant now as they were then

It has been revealed that the penthouse in RSHP’s Stirling Prize-shortlisted, Neo-Bankside is on the market for £20 million, while homeless people are offered kit-of-parts housing by the same practice. As always, architects serve the rich and powerful while disassociating the ‘art’ of architecture from its political role. Perhaps Jeremy Corbyn will revive local authority architect departments - at least they attempted to serve the 95 per cent. This AJ cartoon (slightly tweaked) is from 22.05.68. Plus ça change, plus c’est la même chose.
