Hellman files #172

A trawl through Hellman’s archives, in which we uncover gems that are as relevant now as they were then

This AJ cartoon from 06.09.01 resurrects the old chestnut about graduate architecture students not being equipped for practice. It is based on a TV programme years ago where actors simulated patients and their illnesses for medical students to diagnose. Could it be applied to architecture students? Generally contact with people vital to building - users, clients, planners, consultants etc - is absent from the curriculum, but managing such relationships can be as important to a project as designing.
