Hellman files #171

A trawl through Hellman’s archives, in which we uncover gems that are as relevant now as they were then

This AJ cartoon from 31.03.11 followed George Osborne’s budget, which appeared to give the green-belt green light to spec house buildersand to promote sustainability.

I have adapted it to suit this year’s budget with its further assault on planning and design, removing council consent for brownfield site developments and performing a U-value u-turn on zero-carbon government policy.

The concept of ‘localism’ is also on the scrap heap as the government intends to intervene in local authority housing plans.
