Hellman files #154

  • Comment

A trawl through Hellman’s archives, in which we uncover gems that are as relevant now as they were then

Hellman writes: ‘Morality and architecture has headlined recently. There is the RIBA/IAUA fiasco, the use of slave labour to build the Qatar World Cup stadiums, and the monuments to totalitarian regimes such as those in Azerbaijan or China.
‘The problem is that the profession has no moral imperative. Architects have invariably served rich power elites and continue to do so today.A version of this cartoon was first published in the AJ on 24.07.74.’
