[FIRST LOOK + DATA] Winchester-based Design Engine Architects has completed its Abercrombie Building project for Oxford Brookes University

Part of the first phase of the masterplan to redevelop Oxford Brookes’ Gipsy Lane Campus, the Abercrombie Building will be home to the Faculty of Technology, Design and Environment, bringing together the disciplines of architecture, planning and construction under one roof for the first time.

The faculty building consists of the part-refurbishment of a 1950s tower block with a four-storey extension linked by an open-sided atrium. This full-height space contains interconnecting circulation routes and is spanned by four glass walkways that connect the two buildings.

The ground floor of the building houses general university-wide functions including a gallery, café, internet bar and computer facilities with 4,800m² of open-plan work areas located on the upper floors.
