Vienna’s public transport authority has launched a design competition for a series of stations on its new underground rail line
The two-stage competition seeks proposals for the above and below ground elements of new stations on the Austrian capital’s proposed U5 underground line.
The winning designs will later form the basis for more detailed architectural planning.
The 10 kilometre-long line will connect Vienna’s Karlsplatz central square with the town hall and Arne-Carlsson-Park.
Participants in contest’s second stage will receive £6,720 each and the overall winner will take home £60,000.
A £47,000 second place prize and third place prize worth £36,000 are also available.
The competition language is German and the deadline for applications is 19 January.
