Vienna launches city square revamp contest

The City of Vienna has announced a competition to regenerate a  42,000m² riverside plaza – known as Schwedenplatz

The city centre plot – called Sweden Square in English currently features a tram station, busy road, bus station, sculpture garden and a boat terminal.

Masterplan proposals should cover the entire area which is planned to receive a new traffic management system and upgraded tracks alignment.

Shortlisted teams will receive around £5,700 each to participate in the competition’s second round and the winner will take home around £8,550.

A £5,700 second place prize and third place prize worth £2,850 are also available.

The competition language is German and the deadline for requests to participate is 4pm local time on 27 November.
