[Registration must be completed by 5 December 2011] The Monash University Centre for Water Sensitive Cities has launched a contest seeking concept housing masterplans for a disused site in Melbourne, Australia

Open to students only, the two-stage contest seeks ‘water sensitive’ proposals for the riverside Maribyrnong Defence site which has been abandoned since 2000.

The size and density of schemes can be determined by the entrants however water use within each proposal will be assessed with schemes focussing on conservation and reuse expected.

Ten design teams will be shortlisted and asked to present their ideas and the winner will receive $10,000.
