Leicester City Council is seeking a design team for its new £17 million Main Line Museum

Planned to complete in 2019, the project will create a new exhibition space for the Great Central Railway which operates steam trains between Loughborough and Birstall.

Supported by the National Railway Museum in York, the facility will be constructed next to the heritage railway’s existing ‘Leicester North’ terminus.

It will feature a range of historic locomotives including a power car and trailer car from the prototype Advanced Passenger Train which inspired the Inter-City.

Specialists are sought in four separate lots covering project management, cost consultancy, architecture and exhibition design.

The deadline for requests to participate is 12noon on 28 October.
