[Submissions are due 20 March] RIBA London is on the hunt for Part I and Part II students to design a temporary shop for the Southbank Centre in London

The pop-up installation is planned to feature in the riverside art complex’s Festival of Neighbourhood summer programme running from 31 May and 9 September.

In recent years a range of artist and architect-designed outdoor commissions have transfored the Southbank for its annual summer festival programme.

This year’s festival, themed around ‘neighbourhood’, will once again populate the 8 hectare site with sculptures, structures, gardens and temporary installations.

Six students are sought to design a shop in keeping with this year’s theme.

The build will be an estimated four by five meters in plan and must be durable, low cost and quickly demountable. It should alsoe meet the operator’s requirements for its trade.

The winners will have their travel costs covered. Applicants are required to submit a ‘short and engaging written and or graphic response’ to the question ‘What does neighbourhood mean to you?’
