Barts Health NHS Trust is seeking an architect to re-masterplan land surrounding The Royal London Hospital in Whitechapel
The winning team will draw up conceptual plans for various sites vacated by the hospital following its move into a new £1 billion complex (pictured) completed by HOK in 2012.
According to the contract notice: ‘The Trust wishes to commission a masterplanning team to explore the contribution this site can make to its vision to enhance clinical excellence and life science provision while also, at the same time, optimising the commercial returns.
‘The appointed masterplanning advisory team will work with an established team of internal programme staff and experienced external advisers creatively to explore the physical and spatial options for the site.’
Objectives include delivering a new life sciences centre, providing offices for the trust and exploiting the remaining site to provide ‘maximum financial return’.
Five teams will be invited to submit tenders for the contract – estimated to be worth up to £450,000 – following the completion of pre-qualification questionnaires (PQQs).
A bidders briefing session will be held on 29 February. The deadline for submitting completed PQQs is 5pm on 17 February
