The city of Mannheim has launched a multidisciplinary design contest for a £14 million business development centre
Planned to complete in 2018, the 6,000m² structure will be constructed on the Mannheim Medical Technology Campus within the south-west German city’s Wohlgelegen district.
The ‘modern and high-quality’ facility will include connections to the nearby University Hospital Mannheim which features several historic listed buildings.
Up to 25 multidisciplinary teams will be invited to participate in the competition following an open prequalification round.
The winning team will receive around £40,000. A second place prize of around £25,000 and third place prize worth approximately £15,000 will also be awarded.
Judges include city mayor Peter Kurz and Frankfurt-based architect Zvonko Turkali.
The competition language is German. The deadline for request to participate is 5pm local time on 27 May.
