Keele University is seeking an architect for its new Institute for Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Leadership
Planned to complete in 2019, the £9.7 million building will expand the university’s management school and create a new business incubator facility.
The institute is one of two new ‘HUB’ buildings planned for the campus university located 4.8 kilometres from Newcastle-under-Lyme in Staffordshire.
According to the contract notice: ‘This BREEAM excellent HUB will enable the university to deliver its aspiration for a step change in the level of engagement and partnership with business consistent with delivering the university’s strategic plan and its vision for growth and continued success.’
Founded in 1949, the 250 hectare university – run by environmentalist writer Jonathan Porritt – recently started the second stage of expansion of its science park where the new institute will be constructed.
Other facilities on the campus – centred around the historic Keele Hall (pictured) – include an observatory, art gallery, medical school, science park and conference centre.
Up to ten teams will be shortlisted for the £400,000 contract. The deadline for requests to participate is 12noon on 13 June.
