Hunt begins for Royal Artillery Museum architect

  • Comment

The Royal Artillery Museum is seeking an architect for its new base on the Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire

The appointed architect-led design team will develop plans from RIBA stage 2 to 7 for a new facility near the Royal School of Artillery in Larkhill.

The new facility will replace the current museum – known as ‘Firepower’ – in Woolwich which is due to close in 2017.

The existing museum features exhibitions on the Royal Artillery’s 200 year history and archives relating to the two million men and women who have served in the regiment since its formation.

A project manager, planning consultant, interpretation designer and quantity surveyor are also sought in separate lots.

The total value of all professional fees relating to the project will be around £3 million. The exact site for the new facility at Larkhill has yet to be announced.

The deadline for requests to participate is 5pm on 23 March.
