Delapre Abbey Restoration, Northampton

  • Comment

[Requests to participate must be received by 23 September] Northampton Borough Council calls for the restoration and conservation of Delapre Abbey, built in 1145, with this contract also set to create new roles alongside preservation.

Proposals are currently sought up to RIBA stage D; with a funding application leading to RIBA stage L also being required if successful, the 18 month contract is due to begin November 2011.

Described by Councillor David Palethorpe as ‘an important landmark on the local and national heritage map’ and major tourist attraction, Delapre Abbey now grade two star listed, is made up of a number of buildings ranging in period and condition.

This project requires any proposed restoration plan to be joined to a detailed business plan outlining the concept and schematic design, public benefits, site development and long term financial viability of the works.
