  • Comment

The University of Cyprus has a launched an international competition for a new medical school

The facility is planned for the university’s Athalassa Campusin Nicosia where a £22 million library by Jean Nouvel is currently under construction.

Earlier this year ADP won an international contest to re-masterplan the prominent site on the southern fringes of Cypriot capital.

The AJ100 firm defeated rival unnamed firms from Europe, America and Canada to win the high-profile commission.

Set up in 1989, the university now hosts around 7,000 students on a campus based on an original masterplan by YRM.

The winner of the latest contest will receive around £40,000. A second place prize worth around £28,000 and third place prize of approximately £18,000 are also available.

Judges include director of campus development Agis Elisseos and Kostas Poulopoulos of BIG.

The deadline for requests to participate is 1pm local time on 27 October.
