Italian holding company Cap Group has opened a design competition to overhaul its corporate headquarters in Milan

The £13.5 million project will deliver an upgraded office complex and public realm for the company which manages water networks and plants across the Lombardy region.

Improvements to the sustainability and energy efficiency of the Via Rimini site’s existing 6,300m² of offices, laboratories and auditoriums will also be required.

Italian firm SBG Architects has already completed a feasibility study for the project which aims to retrofit existing buildings on the constrained inner city site to LEED Gold standard.

The competition language is Italian but phase one applications may be completed in English.

The deadline for applications is 2pm local time on 3 May.
