Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a design team for a new infill project
The team chosen for the estimated £50,000-to-£100,000 contract will draw up plans to enclose two courtyards within the main building (pictured) at St Peter’s Hospital near Chertsey, Surrey.
The project, planned to complete in 2019, will create a supplies and engineering storage space within one current internal courtyard while also transforming another nearby courtyard into offices.
According to the brief: ‘Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has approved a business case to infill two courtyards in the Outpatients department of St Peter’s Hospital. Ashford and St Peter’s NHS Foundation Trust wish to procure a design team for the design, procurement and administration of the project.
‘The trust requires additional space to accommodate displaced services from a part of the site that is being sold in support of the NHS Five Year Forward Plan. The displaced services are: supplies stores to be reprovided in Courtyard 2 Level 2; engineering stores to be re-provided in Courtyard 2 mezzanine floor at Level 3; and offices – to be reprovided in open plan format in Courtyard 8 level 2.’
St Peter’s Hospital was founded in 1945 and occupies a 21ha greenbelt site between Woking and Chertsey. The main building, which hosts both the outpatients and accident and emergency departments, was completed in 1966.
The winning team will be expected to complete a feasibility study, win planning and deliver the scheme up to post-completion.
The deadline for applications is 30 July.
