Milton Keynes Council has announced a new £10 million professional services framework
Teams chosen for the four-year agreement will have the opportunity to work on an estimated £120 million worth of capital projects, including eight new primary schools, a secondary school, a school expansion and four corporate capital schemes.
The framework is divided into five lots covering architectural services, project management, quantity surveying, project management and quantity surveying, and contract administration. Bids will be evaluated 50 per cent on quality and 50 per cent on cost.
In its brief, the council says it is ‘establishing a professional services framework to ensure the delivery of their capital works programme is supported by suitably qualified and experienced independent professionals.
‘The procurement of a professional services framework seeks to deliver the following objectives: The delivery of major construction projects on time, on budget and free of major defects; and construction projects are well designed and specified to support and enhance the services occupying the facilities being created or developed.’
Milton Keynes is a major new town of around 230,000 inhabitants, 72km north-west of central London. Last month, it was announced a contest for a new ‘MK:U’ university will be held early next year.
The latest framework will cover an estimated £120 million worth of projects between 2019 and 2023. The local authority has previously harnessed a range of national frameworks to deliver schemes using traditional, and design and build methods.
Individual schemes will be allocated to members of the latest framework by either direct awards or mini competitions. Each lot will be divided into five project value bands ranging from below £399,000 to above £10 million.
The deadline for applications is midday, 15 February.
