The Institute of Technology (IT) Carlow is recruiting an architect for a new administration block in Wexford, south-east Ireland
The winning architect-led team chosen for the estimated £500,000 contract will deliver a 2,200m2 office block for the technology college which provides full-time education to more than 7,000 students across Ireland’s South Leinster region.
The project will create a three-storey administration building on the site of an existing prefabricated structure within the institute’s main riverside campus on Kilkenny Road in Carlow. The scheme will also require offices, meeting rooms, and ancillary spaces including stores and toilets.
In its brief, the institute says: ‘The successful consultants will be responsible for the design and successful delivery (including fit-out) of a new administration building at IT Carlow’s main campus, Kilkenny Road, Carlow. The design team services will be required from the start of Stage 1 to completion of Stage 5.’
IT Carlow is one of Ireland’s largest technology colleges and offers more than 100 masters, honours, ordinary degree and higher certificate courses in fields such as business, computing and the built environment.
New buildings on the Kilkenny Road campus include a Student Services Building by Wejchert Architects and a Research, Development and Innovation Building by Scott Tallon Walker Architects.
Alongside architectural services, other lots required for the administration building project will cover civil and structural engineer services, mechanical and electrical engineering services, and quantity surveying.
The deadline for applications is midday, 12 November.
