An international ideas competition has been launched to create a new home for stray cats
Open to students and professional architects, the competition – organised by Shanghai-based Spica Architects – seeks ideas for shelters anywhere in the world which can protect street cats from wind and rain.
According to the competition brief: ‘We hope this competition can be a catalyst for creating a better urban living environment for humans and animals and can arouse people’s sense of social responsibility.’
The brief continued: ‘We hope that innovative and effective solutions can be provided in terms of all the social problems raised by stray cats. And furthermore, we also hope that people can open their heart to help stray animals around them.’
Three winning designs will be announced on 20 January and all entries to the competition will be exhibited online and published in a book.
The competition will officially launch on 8 October and the deadline for submissions is 8 December.
