Architects sought for East Sussex affordable housing schemes

Wealden District Council is on the hunt for architects for a raft of affordable housing schemes in East Sussex

The £200,000 contract is divided into two lots and covers seven schemes up to RIBA stage 3.

The first lot features a new build development on an infill site in Uckfield currently home to three garages and a small garden.

The replacement of Grants Hill House – featuring 42-sheltered housing units and a bowling club – with a new ‘inspirational’ retirement home is also included.

The second lot features a greenfield site outside Hailsham, an infill plot in Polegate and two infill sites in Wadhurst.

The Elizabeth Court retirement home in Hailsham – featuring 33 sheltered housing units –will also be replaced with new flats.

Architects may bid for individual lots or both. The winning team will develop the schemes up to RIBA stage 3.

Attendance at consultations, advice sessions, planning committee meetings will also be required along with the production of design and access statements and the submission of planning applications.

The deadline for expressions of interest is 12noon on 9 March.
