New Taipei City Government is on the hunt for an architect to design a 25,000m² museum of art
International firms are invited to partner with Taiwanese practices to design and supervise the 2.5 hectare job.
The £35 million complex will include a contemporary museum of art, children’s museum of art, administrative offices, 1,200-seat auditorium, outdoor performance space and car park.
It will be built close to the Yingge railway station overlooking the Dahan River which starts in the nearby Pintien mountain range.
Peter Boronski and Jean-Loup Baldacci won a preliminary ideas contest for the museum three years ago.
Jury members include New Taipei deputy mayor Hou You-Yi and Taiwan’s commissioner of cultural affairs Lin Kuang-Yu.
Non-Taiwanese architects are forbidden from tendering directly for this project.
The deadline for applications is 14 January.
