Architect sought for Humberside flood rescue centre

  • Comment

The Humberside Fire and Rescue Service is on the hunt for an architect for a new £3 million flood rescue training centre

The Grimsby facility – known as The Ark – will feature a large simulator tank for training emergency crews to work in fast flowing water up to three metres deep.

Planned to complete in Summer 2015, the new training tank on the banks of the River Humber will feature a street scene with houses and cars, allowing emergency services workers to practice rescuing flood victims.

The project follows an unprecedented tidal surge in the region one year ago which saw 1,100 homes and hundreds of businesses flooded.

The winning team will provide a comprehensive design and project management service for the client.

Services required will include architectural and structural design, mechanical and electrical design, procurement of construction, contract management, cost control, project management, CDM coordination and planning and building regulations approval.

The deadline for requests to participate is 30 January.
