  • Comment

Abronhill Housing Association and North Lanarkshire Council are on the lookout for an architect to envision a ‘sustainable future’ for Abronhill shopping centre

The winning architect-led, multi-disciplinary team will deliver a feasibility study for the town’s neglected shopping parade and the surrounding area.

The structure – featuring shops, cafes and a community centre – is located in the centre of the settlement which was built as a suburb of Cumbernauld new town in the 1960s.

The parade is also directly opposite the high school where the Scottish coming-of-age romantic comedy Gregory’s Girl was filmed in 1981.

The £20,000 contract is expected to last 12 months. The chosen architect-led, multidisciplinary team will be expected to include a business planner and consultation expert.

The deadline for requests to participate is 12noon on 24 February.
