Aberystwyth University is seeking an architect for a new £40 million Innovation and Enterprise Campus

Planned to complete in 2018, the ‘state-of the art’ facility will encourage companies and researchers to collaborate on new renewable energies and biotechnologies.

According to the tender notice: ‘The Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus (AIEC) will enable the establishment of a thriving commercially focussed innovation campus that will increase the capacity to deliver impact driven collaborative research projects within a state-of the art flagship environment.’

The 5,000m² development will be located on the university’s Gogerddan site where Pascall+Watson completed a new £6 million Institute of Biological, Environmental and Rural Sciences three years ago.

The latest scheme will include a Centre for Food, Nutrition and Energy Security; a Future Food Centre; a Bio-refining Centre; a Seed Biobank and Processing Facility; and an Interdisciplinary Centre for the Bioeconomy.

The appointed multidisciplinary design team will include an architect, BREEAM assessor and service, structural and civil engineers. A project manager and cost manager will be appointed separately.

The deadline for request to participate is 10am on 2 March.
