Teesside University is on the hunt for an architect for a new £30 million National Horizons Centre (NHC) in Darlington

The 4,200m² facility will focus on the design and production of new technologies and management skills for the emergingbiologics, biotechnology, subsea engineering and digital industries.

Laboratories, seminar rooms, a conference area, restaurant and residential accommodation will all be included in the new building.

A subsea simulation suite and digital manufacturing and design laboratory will also feature in the new centre located on Darlington’s 30 hectare Central Park regeneration district.

The NHC project is backed by Teesside University, the Centre for Process Innovation, Darlington College, Darlington Borough Council and the Centre for Subsea Technology Awareness Training and Education.

The appointed architect-led multi-disciplinary design team will include mechanical and electrical consultants, a structural engineer and a BREEAM consultant.

The deadline for requests to participate is 30 March.
