Holkham Walled Garden in Wells-next-the-Sea, Norfolk is on the hunt for an architect for a £2 million regeneration project

Planned to complete in 2020, the project will deliver new visitor facilities and repair several historic sheds and glasshouses inside the Grade II* garden.

Constructed during the late 18th Century, the 2.4 hectare garden is a short distance from William Kent’s landmark Palladian-style Holkham Hall (pictured).

Originally designed by Samuel Wyatt – the garden features a vinery, bell tower, sheds and several glasshouses in need of restoration.

RH Partnership has already completed a feasibility study for the project which will deliver a new refreshment kiosk, education facility and lavatories.

Up to six teams will be shortlisted for the £160,000 contract. Applicants must have professional indemnity insurance worth £5m, public liability insurance of £10m and employer’s liability insurance for £10m.

The deadline for requests to participate is 9am on 7 September.
