River Clyde Homes is on the hunt for an architect to overhaul a 600-unit housing estate in central Greenock
The £20 million project will transform – both internally and externally – several existing multi-story blocks in the Broomhill area and create offices and 22 new homes.
According to the tender notice: ‘The area requires a radical and substantial investment in new services to support customers and capital investment to produce homes that are fit for the 21st century.
‘At its heart are three multi-storey blocks, the look of which will have their appearance altered to stunning effect using a high specification, ultra-modern rain screen system to create a dramatic new façade.’
A district heating system will furthermore be installed to reduce heating costs and carbon emissions. Landscaping and security improvements are also planned.
The Broomhill regeneration is expected to be the largest project undertaken in the history of the social housing provider which currently owns around 6,000 homes.
The deadline for requests to participate is 8 December.
