Cork County Council is on the hunt for a design team for a £1.7 million arts centre inside Mallow town hall
The ’North Cork Regional Arts Centre’ project will transform the former municipal building (pictured) into a new 150-seat theatre with a dressing room, box office and bar.
An art gallery, educational facility, 56-seat café and workshop area will also be delivered under the project which is backed by the European Regional Development Fund.
Located around thirty-five kilometres north of Cork, the town was formerly a centre of sugar beet production and now has a population of more than 11,000 people.
The red-brick, Gaelic Revival town hall was constructed during the 1930s. Nearby landmarks include a statue of Irish statesman William O’Brien who was born in the town.
The deadline for applications is 12noon on 29 April.
