  • Comment on: Introducing RetroFirst: a new AJ campaign championing reuse in the built environment

Retrofit is dead on the ground if VAT remains. WE need to campaign actively for 5% or 0% VAT on retrofit.
Government is not listening to this most basic demand. Most simple. Most fair demand. We need to boycott this tax and have all clients set aside the tax into an account. If the construction industry boycotts maybe the government will listen!

    1) RIBA needs to declare a Climate Emergency
    2) The planning system needs Permitted Development for retrofit low energy with set examples for homeowners to get on without planning.
    3) Climate Emergency retrofitting needs to come before Conservation.
    4) VAT for Climate Emergency approved retrofits needs to be zero.
etc. Lets form an Architects for XR working group!
