Saint-Gobain Isover has launched a new range of cavity barriers to meet fire, acoustic and thermal requirements of the Building Regulations
Developed using new mineral wool technology, the ULTIMATE cavity barrier range, combines the fire protection of stone wool with the lightweight properties of glass wool.
The new cavity barriers provide up to 120 minutes fire protection. When installed within a masonry, timber or steel frame cavity, they are designed to restrict the spread of fire.
The range also includes a storey-height barrier, which is 2,400mm long. This reduces the number of joints minimising the risk of weak points within the insulation.
Tom Foster, senior product manager at Isover, said: ‘The development of ULTIMATE technology provides the market with a real alternative to stone wool in fire protection applications. The technology allows our new barriers to reach 120 minutes fire protection, the highest requirement of building regulations, without compromising on acoustic performance or ease of installation.
