The surface finishes company opened a new London showroom last month

Decorum Est, a surface finishes company which uses traditional manufacturing techniques, opened a new showroom in London last month.

Among the techniques revived by Decorum Est are scagliola; a technique for ornamenting plaster, repousse; which involves embossing metal from its reverse side and verre eglomise, where the back side of glass is gilded with gold or metal leaf.

Products included limestone flooring hand painted by the company’s co-founder David Abrams, and glass screens produced by casting large sheets of glass over textured moulds.
