Allies and Morrison completes East London canalside housing

  • Comment

Allies and Morrison has taken the wraps off this 109-home scheme in Bromley-by-Bow, East London

PROJECT DATACONCEPT SKETCH • PLANS

Built for Peabody, the 3,295m2 canalside housing development sits in the Limehouse Cut Conservation Area.

Its site had stood largely empty since 1965 when the mill on the site was destroyed by a flour dust explosion.

The scheme includes a mix of one, two and three-bedroom flats with 46 of these for private sale, 42 for shared ownership and 21 built for rental by the Peabody Trust.

The design takes inspiration from the wharf-like industrial buildings of the area and their brick materiality and deep reveals respond to the surrounding riverside warehouse buildings.
