Chris Loyn of Loyn & Co talks to the AJ about the ideas behind his latest house – a scheme for an artist couple in the Forest of Dean

Sat on a hillside in the Wye Valley, the house makes use of three existing stone buildings on the site, transforming them into outdoor spaces within a new overarching in-situ concrete structure.

‘We took the roofs off the existing buildings, just leaving their perimeter walls,’ says Loyn.

‘We scooped the meadow down over the existing buildings and then cored out the roof to make the inside of the original buildings outside spaces,’ he added.
