[SMALL PROJECTS 2011] The brief for this project required the architects to consider spatial needs in providing adequate space for living and working, but to work with the existing building instead of knocking it down
After stripping all paraphernalia from the existing dwelling, two new spaces were added to form a courtyard centred in the site, connected to the woodland with sliding walls of timer and glass. The new spaces are cloaked in burnt larch of sills stacked horizontally and ‘common’ cowshed cladding, with glass slots providing light paths and private outlooks.
